WestWind Homes is looking for a dedicated and skilled Purchasing Estimator to join our Purchasing Department. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining and updating our residential construction labor and materials database, generating accurate estimates for models, customizations, and customer selections, and issuing timely purchase orders. OBJECTIVES
Maintain/Update residential construction labor & materials database. Estimate new models, options & customer customization requests. Estimate & issue purchase orders for new jobs. Collaborate with field agents on jobs in process when variances occur.
JOB DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES:
Eliminate overages, shortages, and make adjustments to master plans.
· Assist the Design efforts by making on-site visits for proof of concept, before making changes to Master Plans.
· Assist in value engineering of materials, framing plan and all other aspects to help reduce costs.
· Monitor cost on new models, (budget to actual), and provide a report.
· Monitor and control variances to less than .05%, through accurate material take-offs Purchase Orders, and Work Orders.
· Maintain accurate master budgets, material lists and P.O. amounts.
· Issue out Po’s (must match, or adjust schedule, and in complete packages for just in time deliveries).
· Update Builder MT & ISR Start sheet with the Releases process dates.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
• Construction experience.
• Knowledgeable in computer and capable of working with plans and estimating in a timely manner.
• Capable of reading blueprints and preparing material list.
• Knowledge in estimates in all aspects of residential construction.
• Design creative skills.
• Must have a Texas Drivers License and a good driving record.
• Must posses effective writing and verbal skills, with above average problem-solving capabilities, and human relation skills.
• Must be able to take trainings and attend seminars as needed.
• Organized individual to help department maintain.
• Responsible for maintaining master contracts, unit cost pricing, unit materials, and lead time agreements tied to schedule.
• Assist the Production Manager to build the scope of work, (specifications, quantities, and capacities) and for new product research, characteristics and coverage.
• Assist the Production Manager for new product research, (product specifications, characteristics, and coverage).
• Responsible for pricing out options.
• Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to occasionally lift-up to 15 pounds.
Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine company needs.
Must be able to legally drive vehicles in the USA.
